Types of Care We Provide
While there are some common care scenarios, there are also many situations where families can feel like they don’t fit the mold. No matter what the case, we take into consideration the needs of each person we care for to ensure that those needs are met. All of our care is flexible, and we work to customize a care solution with you. Some types of care include:
- Companion Care
- Personal Care
- 24-Hour Care
- Memory Care
This type of care is best suited for adults and seniors who are mostly independent but might need help in some way that is hands-off. When caregivers provide this type of care, they are not assisting in care that requires touch, but rather assistance or simply being a companion. This may look like taking your loved one to the grocery store or accompanying them on regular walks. It may also include cooking, meal planning, light household chores such as laundry and pet care. This can be a great care option for an elderly parent who resides in a senior apartment community, or even those still in their own home.
Caring for an aging or ailing family member can require a lot of you – whether in time or energy. No one wants to feel like they don’t have enough resources for their loved one as well as to maintain their own life! Even if the needs are light and do not require clinical or medical skills, companion care may be a huge benefit to you and your family. Touching Hearts at Home senior care companions are compassionate and kind, desiring to serve others with their time.
The personal care we provide comes from licensed caregivers who are trained in assisting people with care that requires touch. This kind of hands-on care ranges from bathing and dressing to toileting, hydration, nutrition, hygiene, transfers, and lifting. Care like this may be suited for various situations, additional to the care provided by staff at an assisted living community or memory care facility, or even in the home to allow family members to work and rest. For a couple in which one partner needs assistance, personal care may be a good choice to allow the other spouse to continue to work, if necessary. It can also be a supplement alongside hospice care at home or even recovery after an operation in which activity is limited, and assistance is required.
24-hour care can be a great option to allow your loved one to keep living in their own home or your home, as opposed to moving them due to the level of necessary care. While Touching Hearts at Home does not provide live-in care, we are able to provide 24-hour care by employing several caregivers in rotating shifts. We prefer giving this type of care this way because it allows our caregivers to rest and come to their shift fully present for their work. This care tends to be all-encompassing, including working on physical therapy, dispensing medication, toileting and incontinence care, feeding, and household chores.
Often families take on the care of their loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia, but it can be emotionally difficult and taxing to bear it alone. For loved ones both in specialized care communities and at home with family, Touching Hearts at Home can come and help care for your loved one. Caregivers trained in memory care are able to help with managing unsafe behavior such as wandering, as well as assist with general activities of daily living, and even work on activities to help stimulate the mind and senses. It’s our joy to come alongside you in caring for your loved one dealing with common memory troubles of aging.
