When it comes time for your senior loved one to receive additional personal care, it can be hard to know where to start. At Touching Hearts at Home, we believe in serving others to make their lives better. When we care for someone, we address the whole person, which means our caregivers are dedicated to providing compassionate care as if working with their own loved one. And really, that’s where you want to start: with a senior and in-home care agency that prioritizes compassion in quality care.
How can personal care help?
- Provide care from a certified, specially-trained caregiver
- Help ease your responsibility as your loved one transitions to an assisted living facility
- Provides flexibility to accommodate an individual’s care needs
What Does Personal Care Include?
Caregivers who provide personal care are required to be certified. This is because the care can involve touch that requires special training. Our caregivers are not only licensed, but they are keen on serving your loved one with compassion and dignity. They are able to help with a variety of specialized and common tasks, including:
- Bathing and Showering
- Dressing and Grooming
- Meal Planning and Cooking
- Incontinence Care and Toileting
- Memory and Mental Stimulation
- Medication Management
- Coordination and Working Directly with Hospice
- RN Supervision of Care
While personal care can include these things, we are always flexible at Touching Hearts at Home and can adapt care to meet an individual’s needs. If that should include more in-depth tasks or more simple ones, we can accommodate.
Where Do We Do Personal Care?
Having a caregiver provide personal care can be a great tool no matter where your loved one calls home. Whether they live with you and your family, independently at their own home or senior apartment, or in an assisted living or memory care community, we are happy to help! Personal care can help ease your responsibility as your loved one transitions to an assisted living facility or just to help keep them at home as long as possible. Many families choose this option to help keep an aging parent in their own familiar home, or with their family to ease transitions.
How Much Time is Required For Personal Care?
Unlike many other in-home and senior care agencies, Touching Hearts at Home is very flexible, only requiring as little as one 3-hour shift per week! We also do as much as 24-hour care, which we arrange a team of rotating caregivers to help with the option of awake shifts throughout the rotations. This means that when our caregivers are with your loved ones for an overnight shift, they will stay awake and alert for those hours, while your loved one is asleep. You’ll work with a consistent caregiver or care team, so you’ll become familiar with whoever is caring for your loved one.
Respectful of Privacy and Dignity
For some, health and getting help is a very private matter. We understand that at Touching Hearts, which is why we don’t broadcast to the neighborhood that we’re helping. Whether we visit your loved one at their own home, your home, or a senior community, we arrive in plain vehicles and plain clothes, with only a name tag donning our logo. We value your loved one’s dignity and respect their right to privacy. Our caregivers always aim to treat our clients with compassionate care and kindness.
